At Christmas time we keep alive another old tradition – Mumming.
These are folk plays with a handful of characters, a battle between good and evil and a miracle cure. They are several local variations which were performed in the early part of the 20th century. We started performing them in the 1970s.
We perform the Gower Christmas Sport and the Crwmpyn John play from the Swansea valley.
We usually perform at several pubs in an evening and donate our collection to local charities.
We performed in the following places in December 2018, raising £725.82 for Breast Cancer Care Cymru :
Wednesday 12th December The Gower Christmas Sport (Dunvant script) – The Newton and The Rock & Fountain (Newton), The White Rose, Ale House and The Park (Mumbles).
